Avionics Design Engineer

Join SpaceX, a pioneering company in space exploration and development, as an Avionics Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing wire harnesses for our Starlink vehicles. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop electro-mechanical designs for wire harnesses within our Starlink family of vehicles
  • Design harness solutions within a 3D NX CAD environment and manage technical trade studies to meet stakeholder objectives
  • Generate electrical schematics to support flight and qualification designs
  • Own vehicle-level harnessing mechanical assemblies and drive system integration trades to closure
  • Perform analysis and physical testing of harnessing to ensure qualification for flight
  • Document and communicate design, analysis, and testing results through design reviews
  • Create and release manufacturing documentation and drawings on schedule
  • Interface with production and integration teams to ensure final harness designs can be produced and installed on schedule
  • Perform R&D investigations and trade studies to push wire harness design to new boundaries in terms of mass and cost savings
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Experience with CAD and FEA software packages
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter
  • Experience with wire harness 3D design, wire harness installation drawings, and formboard creation
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to effectively interact with other engineering disciplines
  • Demonstrated understanding of structural analysis and failure modes of complex mechanical systems
  • Prior ownership of a complex component or assembly from initial design through high-volume production ramp
