Resource Conservationist

The Agricultural Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program presents exceptional opportunities in Scientific, Technical, and Agricultural support for individuals aged 55 and above, aimed at enhancing the Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through a grant managed by National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions). The ACES program facilitates collaboration with NRCS personnel engaged in vital conservation efforts daily.

Positions listed are not guaranteed for any specific duration. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 15 years of experience in conservation planning related to soil and water natural resources, or a BA/BS Degree in Biology or a related field in natural resources.

  • Possession of a valid State Driver's license
  • Proficiency required in Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint
Responsibilities:

This role offers technical assistance for the execution of NRCS Farm Bill conservation programs at both the Field Office and Area levels. The Resource Conservationist should have a solid understanding of agricultural production, landscape natural resource issues, the NRCS conservation planning methodology, and NRCS Farm Bill initiatives.

  • Execute tasks necessary for the implementation of the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) and the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP)
  • Support training efforts on EQIP and CSP program delivery for NRCS field staff
  • Assist in organizing and conducting outreach activities
  • Perform quality assurance evaluations of EQIP and CSP program delivery at the Field Office level
