Job Overview

TDI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer to join our team in San Diego, California. As a Sr. Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating high-quality technical documentation, including user guides, operation manuals, and maintenance manuals, in accordance with MIL-SPEC standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user guides, operation manuals, and maintenance manuals.
  • Review and edit documentation content for accuracy, consistency, and grammar.
  • Prepare layout and formatting of documents, including writing, editing, and keying text, creating and importing graphics, and converting photographs and images into digital images.
  • Manage resource of draft and final released technical documentation, including filing and organizing publications and files on the project share drive.
  • Store approved PDFs on the share drive and archive previously released versions of documents.
  • Provide the documents master copy to the System Administrator for filing on the Control Drive.
  • Track and manage the documentation peer-review process from inception to release.
  • Notify reviewers of overdue documents and coordinate obtaining a timely review.
  • Notify the team by email when a document has been released.
  • Interface with customers by attending weekly Program Manager meetings and prepare and provide the status report for the PM meeting.
  • Complete projects by coordinating with Engineering, Fielded Systems Support, and Site Coordinators.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in writing user guides, operation manuals, maintenance manuals, logistics support manuals, configuration management plans/manuals, and training manuals according to MIL-SPEC.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, including creating templates and formatting in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and hyperlinks in Microsoft Excel.
  • Active Secret clearance.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Attention to Detail, Quality Focused, and Organized.
  • Deadline-Oriented.
  • Ability to work individually with minimum supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Visio a plus.

Travel: Travel outside the region may be up to 10%.
