Technical Analyst, Financial Aid Specialist

Job Summary:

The Financial Aid Technical Analyst will play a critical role in managing all technical and automated processes in the Financial Aid Office at InsideHigherEd. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Student Information System, including ISIR imports, automated packaging, and Satisfactory Academic Progress. The successful candidate will also serve as the primary office IT contact, coordinating with IT to administer software systems and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all automated workflow processes for the Financial Aid Office within the Student Information System, including daily, weekly, monthly, and annual tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate with IT to ensure all software systems are set up to properly administer financial aid according to regulatory requirements.
  • Create and generate reports within software systems, assist in data collection and compilation, and handle exception reporting.
  • Responsible for the coordination and transmission of federal, state, and institutional information to all required entities and departments.
  • Serve as primary office contact for IT support for all software systems.
  • Manage the use of the imaging system within Financial Aid, including managing workflows, error queues, and re-allocation of work as needed.
  • Manage the set-up of the Financial Aid Office's scheduling system.
  • Monitor the Financial Aid Office's phone queue system, assuring staff coverage of incoming phone volume.
  • Assist with day-to-day operational functions of the Financial Aid Office, including federal, state, and institutional financial aid application and delivery processes.
  • Test new releases of software to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Create and maintain process documentation and staff training for system changes.
  • Identify and implement system, software, and process improvements.
  • Ability to function as an effective team member and support and adapt to change.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and protect student information in compliance with FERPA and HEA laws.
  • Regularly attend and participate in workshops, seminars, and professional conferences.
  • Assist with Financial Aid workshops, events, and department chat duties.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining databases, executing search queries, and mining data.
  • Problem-solving skills, excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, public, and other community agencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor, and well-being, innovation, and quality.
  • Microsoft Office Products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams basic skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science/Information Technology.
  • Two (2) years of financial aid experience.
  • Experience in supporting Ellucian Colleague Financial Aid ERP module.
  • Experience with Perceptive Content ImageNow.
  • English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
  • Demonstrated multicultural competence.

Working Conditions:

  • Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment.
  • Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
  • Ability to travel in-state and nationally.
