Accounts Payable Specialist Job Description

Job Summary

The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing day-to-day accounts payable transactions, including invoice processing, validation, and approval.

Main Responsibilities
  • Process invoices for utilities, property tax, HOA, insurance, and normal operating activity
  • Validate invoice coding and approvals, and match to purchase orders
  • Obtain W-9s from vendors prior to payment and assist with distribution of 1099s
  • Assist with vendor account reconciliations as requested
  • Ensure month-end closing by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Maintain vendor files
  • Identify and research outstanding invoices
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Yardi accounting platform a major plus
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Knowledge of general bookkeeping and accounting
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • 2 years of successful experience in an accounts payable position
  • Prior property management experience a plus
  • Previous customer service background
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma required, college courses in accounting preferred
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and complete work within specified deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Solid math and financial acumen
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
