POSITION TITLE: ITA-Case Manager Non-Exempt Position
REPORTS TO: Program Director of Crisis Wellness Center
POSITION OBJECTIVE: To coordinate care and support services for patients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The ITA Inpatient (Involuntary Treatment) Case Manager operates under the guidance of the Program Director. This role involves delivering behavioral health services to individuals in the Secure Program. The Secure Program Case Manager is tasked with providing specialized crisis intervention and short-term support services to adults and older adults experiencing acute behavioral health crises, aiming for stabilization in the least restrictive environment. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Creating a welcoming atmosphere for new participants.
  2. Facilitating community intakes to ensure participants access appropriate care.
  3. Delivering basic recovery support services and documenting these using recovery-focused language.
  4. Collaborating with individuals to achieve goals outlined in their personalized service plans, emphasizing recovery and strengths.
  5. Advocating for the needs and rights of each individual.
  6. Working collaboratively as part of a treatment team.
  7. Providing referrals and resources to individuals and their families.
  8. Conducting post-discharge follow-up services as necessary.
  9. Leading group sessions as per the program's schedule.
  10. Assisting with admissions to the Center, including orientation, personal property management, and hygiene support.
  11. Partnering with participants to maintain a recovery-oriented environment through various tasks.
  12. Engaging in discharge planning with participants and treatment teams to involve community resources and family support.
  13. Maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date clinical records documenting all services provided.
  14. Ensuring incident reports are completed in accordance with agency policy.
  15. Supporting and adhering to agency policies and procedures.
  16. Evaluating individuals for substance use disorders and recommending suitable services.
  17. Maintaining a positive, solution-oriented approach in conflict situations.
  18. Networking within the community to identify external agencies and services to assist individuals.
  19. Establishing and nurturing relationships with community agencies and service providers.
  20. Participating in verbal and physical de-escalation in emergency situations, assisting team members as needed.
  21. Performing other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. BA/BS/BSW Degree in a Behavioral Science related field preferred; AA Degree with 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience totaling at least 4 years.
  2. Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor (RAAC) or higher through the Washington State Department of Health.
  3. Current CPR, First Aid, and Food Handlers permit, or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
  4. Commitment to understanding each individual's unique circumstances and preferences.
  5. Strong knowledge of recovery principles, resilience, and the importance of individual choice.
  6. Experience working with individuals who may be challenging to engage in traditional behavioral health programs.
  7. Ability to effectively interact with individuals exhibiting a range of challenging behaviors.
  8. Adherence to the philosophy of cooperation and respect for individuals.
  9. Demonstrated knowledge in managing challenging behaviors.
  10. Valid Washington State Driver's License required.
  11. Consistent attendance record.
  12. Knowledge and experience in counseling, rehabilitation, training, and treatment services for adults in crisis.
  13. Familiarity with Washington State regulations regarding behavioral health services.
  14. Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and evenings.

GUIDELINES: This position requires obtaining and maintaining Washington State credentials through the Department of Health.

COMPLEXITY: The incumbent provides case management services to a diverse population with varying ages and socioeconomic backgrounds, addressing complex social, behavioral, and psychological issues. Strong clinical skills and sound judgment are essential.

PERSONAL CONTACTS: Interactions include treatment team members, individuals, families, and representatives from community agencies specializing in behavioral health and crisis intervention.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Most tasks can be performed while seated, but the role requires verbal crisis de-escalation and responding to aggressive individuals calmly.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily indoors in office settings or meeting rooms, with occasional outdoor supervision and community agency visits.

Salary: $19.75/hr DOE
