The Opportunity

We're seeking a Director, Bank Agile Product Management to lead our Payments Product team. This team is responsible for payment strategy and insights, as well as enhancements to our payment services offered to our members. The ideal candidate will have experience in product development, process improvement, project delivery, or business/requirements analysis, with a strong background in Agile methodologies.

The successful candidate will lead an agile team(s) assigned to developing solutions for implementing the Bank's business objectives aligned to the department and company strategy. They will be responsible for creating and implementing policies and processes for delivering agile methodologies that meet business results and are aligned to strategic business objectives and required outcomes.

The Director will also manage project assignments and prioritization of work for Agile teams, oversee deliverables to ensure they are progressing in a timely manner and are aligned to objectives, and make data-driven decisions as needed related to funding and resource allocation.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. The preferred location for this position is Colorado Springs, CO, but it can also be based in one of our other locations. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Lead an agile team(s) assigned to developing solutions for implementing the Bank's business objectives aligned to the department and company strategy.
  • Create and implement policies and processes for delivering agile methodologies that meet business results and are aligned to strategic business objectives and required outcomes.
  • Manage project assignments and prioritization of work for Agile teams.
  • Oversee deliverables to ensure they are progressing in a timely manner and are aligned to objectives.
  • Make data-driven decisions as needed related to funding and resource allocation.
  • Lead positive team dynamics, encourage collaboration, and drive achievement of goals and OKRs.
  • Ensure assigned Bank projects are completed within financial regulatory and compliance policies and that risk issues identified are mitigated as required.
  • Apply expert knowledge and remove escalated impediments to the team's success and assist in conflict resolution, issue, and dependency management.
  • Coordinate, coach, support, and guide leaders and teams in Agile principles, values, and practices.
  • Maintain stakeholders informed of project status, including Senior Leaders, and build consensus with alliances across the organization.
  • Assess, use, and partner with external resources and partners to meet agreed-upon expectations.
  • Share information about the portfolio's output and direction with other Team of Team Leads and stakeholders to ensure alignment across the organization.
  • Build and oversee a team dedicated to excellence through recruiting, developing, retaining, coaching, guiding, performance management, and managerial activities.
  • Have full management responsibility for some members of the Agile team, including hiring, firing, development, and providing input on compensation decisions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8+ years' experience in product development, process improvement, project delivery, or business/requirements analysis, with 2+ years of that experience within a financial services organization.
  • 3+ years of direct team leadership experience or leading large matrixed, cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in marketing, strategy, digital, process, or user experience design within a financial organization.
  • Agile Scrum best practices and experience being a product owner for a scrum team.
  • Knowledge and experience of multiple technical software delivery methodologies, such as Agile and SAFe.
  • Experience analyzing business requirements, process flows, and use cases to identify opportunities to streamline business processes in accordance with risk management framework and regulatory requirements.

  • Comprehensive experience in applicable banking regulatory and compliance policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience working across the digital product development process: road mapping, problem definition, exploration, requirements documentation, front and back-end development, testing, and code deployment.
  • Experience with consumer payments experience in a financial institution setting.
  • Detailed payment rail knowledge, particularly in wire, ACH, and checks.
  • Passion for understanding customer needs and proven ability to build digital products such as bill pay experience.
  • Ability to understand risks and controls entailed in end-to-end payment execution and the delivery of payment services.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

What We Offer

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $138,230 - $264,200.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
