Key Responsibilities:
The Cardiac Monitoring Technician is an essential role that involves indirect patient care within the department. Key duties include:

  • Monitoring cardiac rhythms through direct cardiac monitoring systems.
  • Facilitating effective communication within the department.
  • Transcribing physician orders when electronic systems are unavailable.
  • Ensuring lab and radiology tests are ordered and completed.
  • Compiling and maintaining patient records in the Med/Surg/Telemetry unit.
  • Ordering necessary supplies for the unit and preparing patient charts with required documentation.
  • Assisting nursing staff with indirect patient care tasks, provided that these duties do not interfere with primary monitoring responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required for all new hires.
2. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
3. Current BLS (AHA) certification is required upon hire and must be kept up to date.
4. A minimum of six months of prior experience in healthcare or as a Monitor Technician is preferred.
