Job DescriptionCompensation: $30.70 per hour
General Overview:

The Automotive Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing skilled mechanical tasks related to the upkeep and repair of various vehicles, including automobiles, trucks, buses, and both heavy and light machinery, powered by diesel and gasoline.

Accountability:

This role reports directly to the Foremen and does not hold supervisory responsibilities.

Position Requirements:
  1. Capable of performing basic repair and replacement tasks independently while acquiring skills for more advanced duties under the guidance of management or senior staff.
  2. Must demonstrate a willingness and capability to learn and advance to higher job classifications.
  3. Responsible for maintaining all mechanical equipment owned by the organization and conducting necessary preventive maintenance.
  4. Ability to interpret work procedures using repair manuals, charts, and basic electrical schematics.
  5. Operates various vehicles and equipment, utilizing lifts or jacks to diagnose, test, inspect, and identify malfunctions. Employs hand tools and power equipment to disassemble, repair, rebuild, or replace defective components.
  6. Keeps detailed records of all vehicle maintenance and repair activities.
  7. Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Foremen.
Requirements:

· High School diploma, GED, or Trade School Diploma required.

· Must possess a valid CDL and be qualified to operate organizational vehicles.

· A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of public agency vehicles and equipment, particularly diesel engines, is essential.

· Proficient in using drills, cutting tools, welding equipment, and other related repair tools.

· Familiarity with standard practices, methods, tools, and equipment used in automotive and heavy equipment repairs.

· Understanding of the principles and mechanics of internal combustion and diesel engines.

· Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

· Ability to read, write, and interpret documents related to industry regulations.

· Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for effective interaction.

Maintaining a clean work area to prevent injuries is essential. Any safety or security concerns must be reported immediately to a supervisor. Participation in safety drills and knowledge of emergency exits is expected.
