Ryder System is seeking a highly skilled Senior Diesel Technician to join our team in Bridgeport, CT. As a Senior Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics and repairs, and complex mechanical inspections and repairs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance and basic diagnostics and repairs.
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable.
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
- Replace defective components as instructed.
- Work unsupervised on most tasks.
- Perform facility maintenance duties.
- Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of the complaint once assigned a task.
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available.
- Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT).
- Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
- Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
- Other support duties as required to support operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred.
- Basic tools, required.
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics and repairs, and complex mechanical inspections and repairs.
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred.
- All other certification as required by location, required.
