Position Overview: Vice President of Software Engineering in Generative AI

At American International Group (AIG), we are redefining how we assist clients in navigating risk. As the Vice President of Software Engineering specializing in Generative AI, you will play a pivotal role in this evolution. Your Role in Generative AI Software Engineering

In this role, you will either manage a team or act as a Principal Software Engineer, concentrating on the design, development, and integration of Generative AI functionalities within AIG's extensive software ecosystem.

If you take on a managerial role, you will oversee a medium-sized team (8+ FTEs/FTCs) of Software Engineers/Developers, guiding them through the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). This includes designing, implementing, testing, and integrating applications or software using Agile and DevOps methodologies. You may also lead specific SDLC phases, such as DevOps practices, testing and quality assurance, or deployment and release management.

As a manager, you will possess advanced skills in creating applications with scalable cloud solutions, leveraging modern concurrency principles, and utilizing programming languages relevant to AIG's core operations.

Your Impact
  • Oversee daily operations of a medium-sized engineering team (10+ FTEs/FTCs) across various regions.
  • Lead initiatives focused on contemporary software design and development best practices.
  • Diagnose and address complex challenges and operational barriers.
  • Utilize your expertise to creatively resolve ambiguous situations.
  • Employ advanced analytical techniques to inform decision-making.
  • Establish priorities and task sequences to meet objectives with minimal oversight.
  • Provide technical mentorship to team members.
  • Facilitate the professional growth and development of your team.
Qualifications for Success
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or a proven track record in technology roles with requisite experience.
  • 15+ years of experience in technology, programming, design, or application delivery.
  • 10+ years in leadership roles within a technical environment.
  • Expertise in the Software Development Lifecycle, DevOps, and Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency in a modern scripting language, web application frameworks, and database query writing.
  • Deep understanding of contemporary product development processes and pipelines.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues effectively.
  • Experienced in system monitoring and log analysis techniques.
