Position Overview:


Orlando Health is a comprehensive healthcare system that encompasses numerous hospitals and emergency services, along with specialized institutes for rehabilitation, cancer treatment, and heart care. Role Summary:

The Clinical Education Specialist is responsible for delivering both general and specialized training to ensure that team members are equipped to provide safe, efficient, and competent care.

Key Responsibilities:
Education and Training

- Must possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.

- Current registered nurse licensure in the State of Florida is mandatory.

- National specialty certification in the relevant practice area is required within two years of employment, unless no certification exists.

- Certifications in basic life support, advanced life support, pediatric advanced life support, and neonatal resuscitation are required as per departmental guidelines.

Experience:
- A minimum of two years of experience in an acute care hospital setting is essential.

Qualifications:

- Enhances the clinical skills of team members through the implementation of an Education Action Plan and annual Needs Assessment.
- Develops and oversees the orientation process for designated areas, engaging with new hires, preceptors, and nursing leadership as necessary.
- Actively contributes to quality and safety initiatives to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Collaborates with Corporate Education to evaluate the ongoing competency of clinical staff.
- Plans, develops, coordinates, and assesses unit-specific training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members.
- Integrates adult learning principles into all educational offerings.
- Supports team member participation in professional and organizational activities.
- Maintains proficiency in nursing practice by engaging in direct patient care.
- Demonstrates accountability by participating in relevant educational or health-related professional organizations.
- Provides input for the clinical assessment of team members.
- Involved in the recruitment and evaluation of potential team members.
- Facilitates professional growth through educational opportunities.
- Assesses and delivers education to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Utilizes evidence-based clinical nursing practices in accordance with national standards.
- Communicates effectively with team members and groups in both verbal and written formats.
- Embraces and promotes organizational change.
- Completes necessary training for electronic medical record systems and maintains competency.
- Engages in formal educational presentations and may present at various conferences.
- Develops assessment materials for ongoing clinical evaluations.
- Participates in committees and educational initiatives that impact organizational outcomes.
- Pursues professional development opportunities to enhance effectiveness in the role.
- Creates opportunities for critical thinking and reasoning skills development among team members.
- Provides programs for preceptor development.
- Demonstrates understanding of the research process and applies evidence-based guidelines to address educational needs.
- Collaborates with educational coordinators for student placements and communicates with nursing instructors regarding assignments.
- Adheres to attendance policies and maintains compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
