Job Duties:- Provide administrative support and clerical services to the department chair, faculty, and students as directed by the chair and/or his supervisors.
- Manage the office, assist other employees, and respond to inquiries from outside visitors and stakeholders.
- Transmit and receive communications between the department and its stakeholders, both within and outside the university.
- Manage departmental records and perform other duties essential to ensuring the smooth functioning of the department.
- Good written and oral communication skills, computer literacy, database management, and proficiency in desktop publishing are essential.
- An ideal candidate should be able to maintain a congenial relationship with students, faculty, and other stakeholders.
- Phone management, inventory, equipment maintenance, organization, and data storage skills are also required.
- A high school diploma and at least five years' experience in an administrative assistant capacity are necessary.
- The administrative assistant must possess the necessary skills and knowledge to execute their duties.
- Knowledge of Norfolk State University's policies and procedures is highly desirable.
