HVAC TECHNICIAN - LEVEL 4/5

POSITION OVERVIEW:
At SpaceX, we are committed to pioneering the technologies that will enable human exploration beyond Earth. We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Technician to ensure our facilities operate at optimal efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of HVAC support systems, including air handlers, chilled water systems, condenser pumps, cooling towers, valves, and filters.
  • Implement and uphold a preventative maintenance schedule for HVAC systems associated with launch operations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and management to maintain systems in peak operational condition.
  • Adhere to all regulatory standards and SpaceX procedures, including quality and safety policies as mandated by OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, NFPA, ASME, and NEC.
  • Execute ductwork modifications and perform various repair tasks.
  • Conduct brazing, soldering, evacuation, and charging of refrigerants.
  • Manage water piping and insulation modifications and repairs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in HVAC, pneumatic, mechanical, or electrical systems.
  • Completion of a degree or certification in HVAC technology from an accredited institution.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Proficient knowledge in HVAC systems, electrical safety, pneumatic principles, and mechanical fasteners.
  • Experience with chiller plants, direct outside air supply (DoAS), and air recirculating units (ARU) in industrial or commercial settings.
  • Universal certification from the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI).
  • Familiarity with high-pressure and flammable gases, as well as refrigeration gases.
  • Experience in maintaining HEPA filters and standard air handling unit (AHU) filtration systems.
  • Basic understanding of refrigeration theory, motors, and mechanics.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean working environment while following company policies and industry standards.
  • Capability to interpret schematic diagrams and architectural plans.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position requires first shift availability (5:30 AM - 3:30 PM), Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, kneeling, and climbing, as well as lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in environments with exposure to fumes, odors, and noise.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing roles and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

HVAC Technician/Level 4: $43.00/hour
HVAC Technician/Level 5: $50.00/hour

Your specific level and salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

In addition to base salary, you may be eligible for long-term incentives, including company stock options, discretionary bonuses, and participation in an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, along with a 401(k) retirement plan, disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various discounts and perks are also included. You will accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays annually.
