Department Overview:


The Recreation Department at UCLA operates within the Division of Campus Life in Student Affairs, employing around 90 full-time staff members and over 1,000 part-time personnel.

This department offers a wide array of recreational activities and wellness services, providing programming that includes competitive, leisurely, social, cultural, and instructional recreational activities.

Additionally, the department oversees 15 recreational and athletic facilities at the University, catering to recreation, competition, and various multi-purpose events for students and the university community.


Position Overview:
The Sports Program Supervisor is tasked with overseeing and coordinating the operational aspects of UCLA Recreation's programs.

Key responsibilities encompass the development and management of a comprehensive array of over 50 club sports, alongside more than 30 intramural activities designed for students, faculty, and staff, as well as a diverse instructional program.

The Sports Program Supervisor will lead full-time coordinators responsible for intramural and club sports, in addition to instructional initiatives.

Working under the general guidance of the Associate Director, the supervisor will independently initiate and execute tasks, adhering to university and departmental policies and procedures, as well as relevant federal and state employment regulations.

The role requires the ability to work autonomously, monitor team performance, and establish schedules to ensure deadlines are met and service quality is maintained. Performance evaluations are conducted annually, and the supervisor is responsible for assessing the performance of their team.

Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in sports management and administration. (Required)

Demonstrated expertise in program supervision, policy formulation, and leadership development. (Required)

Proficiency in budget management, including the creation, initiation of transactions, and interpretation of budget reports. (Required)

Ability to select and procure sports equipment, uniforms, and specific recreational gear. Experience working with vendors and university departments for procurement. (Required)

In-depth knowledge of field and facility preparation to comply with program and safety standards. (Required)


Competence in evaluating programs and student personnel, with the ability to make informed recommendations based on programmatic goals and student interests.

Thorough understanding of facility coordination and scheduling processes to facilitate tournaments and special events. (Required)

Strong verbal and written communication skills. (Required)

Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. (Required)

Ability to enforce university policies and procedures, taking appropriate action in cases of misconduct. Capability to analyze situations and determine the best course of action. (Required)

Interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse groups of students, staff, and colleagues. (Required)


Familiarity with various sports eligibility standards and regulations, as well as planning, scheduling, and facility coordination practices to meet objectives and requirements.
