Job Summary

Simpson University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Faculty Member to join our Department of Science and Mathematics as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Engineering. This is a full-time position that will begin in Fall 2024, pending budgetary approval.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in electrical and computer engineering, including computer programming, linear circuits, digital electronics, logic design, signals and systems, and control systems.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students in the engineering major.
  • Provide department support for curriculum design, assessment for degree program, and student recruitment.
  • Serve on faculty committees.
  • Attend department meetings and professional development activities.
Qualifications
  • PhD in engineering or a related field, with an emphasis in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or control systems.
  • Exceptional ABD candidates may apply and be considered with a letter of support from their dissertation chair attesting that all degree requirements, other than the dissertation defense, have been completed.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach both lecture and project-based coursework.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence utilizing a variety of teaching modalities.
  • Experience working with a diverse student population.
  • Promising research agenda that supports undergraduate education is desirable.
Essential Functions
  • Teach 12 units of undergraduate courses each fall and spring semester.
  • Prepare and teach undergraduate lecture and lab/project-based engineering courses.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students in the engineering major.
  • Provide department support for curriculum design, assessment for degree program, and student recruitment.
  • Serve on faculty committees.
  • Attend department meetings and professional development activities.

Working Conditions

This position is indoors in a controlled environment. The typical working conditions include sitting for long periods of time using a computer.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to sit for long periods of time using a computer, and to perform other physical tasks as necessary.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $66,560 - $76,000.
