Introduction

At St. David's HealthCare, we value our nurses as the backbone of our healthcare system. We're seeking a skilled Dialysis Registered Nurse to join our team at St. David's South Austin Medical Center. As a Dialysis Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Assess patient environment for any safety risks and/or non-compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Assess patient condition for signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect. Reports any indications of abuse or neglect to medical provider(s), nurse leader, and/or appropriate agency.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Perform the administration of prescribed medications. Monitors patient for therapeutic response. Notifies provider and intervenes as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
  • Teach patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures.
  • Teach patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes.
  • Manage a care team, providing oversight and delegation to members as appropriate.
  • Manage evidence-based practices and continuous process improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality measures and enhance the exceptional care provided to patients.
Requirements
  • 1 year of experience required.
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's degree in nursing or clinical field.
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
