Senior Pipeline Inspection Specialist

eRichards Consulting is seeking a Senior Pipeline Inspection Specialist for a long-term engagement.

This role involves overseeing contractors engaged in extensive capital projects related to gas line replacements, gate station regulation, and modernization, as well as district regulator upgrades. A solid understanding of gas distribution and transmission systems is essential. The specialist will plan, schedule, and supervise new construction activities, inspections, and training in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages the activities of gas departments, ensuring safe and efficient operations of daily field activities for both the company and contractor teams. Addresses customer concerns as necessary and collaborates with Technical Services on new construction and infrastructure rehabilitation.
  • Handles damage claims, billing, leak reports, time sheets, and compliance with safety regulations. Ensures the accuracy of gas records for auditing and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversees budget management for construction offices and coordinates with local and state highway officials.
  • Facilitates safety training, documentation, inspections, and investigations of accidents. May conduct evaluations of contractors to support project selections.
  • Conducts oversight inspections for the replacement of bare steel and cast-iron piping, as well as upgrades to gate stations and district regulators.
  • Certification in construction standards and operator qualifications is required to support field oversight.
  • Experience with plastic pipe fusion and welding processes is advantageous.
  • Possesses a background in pipeline oversight, piping fabrication, and welding, along with certifications in non-destructive testing.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills in developing and maintaining construction work packages for record management.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • High School Diploma/GED with 7 years of relevant experience and completion of a relevant progression program is acceptable.
  • Familiarity with gas work and construction practices.
  • Understanding of gas distribution construction and maintenance, safety manuals, and leak detection methods.
  • Knowledge of industry codes such as ASME, API, Hazmat, and OSHA is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with welding processes and non-destructive testing is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently with a focus on multitasking.
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, SAP, and MS Outlook.
  • Demonstrated supervisory capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
