Position Overview: The Mortgage Closing Operations Specialist is tasked with facilitating the precise and efficient closure of mortgage loans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and scrutinize closing documentation, such as loan contracts, promissory notes, and closing statements.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and lender-specific regulations in all documentation.
  • Collaborate with title firms, escrow representatives, legal advisors, and other stakeholders involved in the closing process.
  • Confirm that all conditions of the loan approval are satisfied.
  • Validate the accuracy of loan specifics, including interest rates, loan amounts, and borrower details.
  • Act as the main contact for borrowers throughout the closing phase.
  • Provide clear guidance and address any inquiries regarding the closing.
  • Organize the disbursement of loan funds.
  • Ensure all funding prerequisites are met prior to the release of funds.
  • Guarantee that all documents are signed, notarized, and witnessed as required.
  • Compile the final loan package for submission to the investor or lender.
  • Ensure the package contains all necessary documents and complies with investor standards.
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of the closed loan file for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and rectify any inconsistencies or missing documentation.
  • Provide any required information or documentation to support loan servicing.

Post-Closing Duties: Execute post-closing tasks to facilitate loan sales, including MERS registration, confirmation of government insurance registration, and notifications regarding servicing transfers upon loan sale.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in closing, shipping, and secondary residential markets is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of federal lending regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in work output.
  • Capacity to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using computers and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Work Environment: Operate standard equipment and technology utilized in a business setting, with or without accommodation.
