Job Summary

The Mortgage Loan Originator plays a vital role in our mortgage lending team, responsible for originating home loans, counseling customers on mortgage financing, and developing mortgage referral sources. This role requires a strong understanding of mortgage financing, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and provide guidance on the mortgage process.
  • Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine loan feasibility and set realistic expectations.
  • Explain various loan options and credit terms to customers, ensuring they understand their choices.
  • Compile and review loan applications, credit histories, and financial statements to determine eligibility.
  • Resolve customer complaints and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with underwriters and processors to resolve mortgage application issues.
  • Market bank products to individuals and firms, promoting cross-selling opportunities that meet customers' needs.
  • Develop relationships with realtors, builders, and community organizations to align with Hope's mission.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Three to four years of mortgage experience, preferably in secondary lending.
  • Working knowledge of secondary lending, including FHA, VA, and conventional loans.
  • Understanding of compliance requirements and regulations.
  • Familiarity with Calyx, Desktop Underwriting, and/or Loan Prospector.
