Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Support Specialist to join our team at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

About the Role:

The Medical Support Specialist will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse in a fast-paced inpatient department. The primary responsibility is to provide direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care, seeking information and clarification of duties as needed.

The ideal candidate will function within the scope of practice for unlicensed assistive personnel and in accordance with policies, procedures, techniques, and guidelines in all aspects of job duties. A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate and successful completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or successful completion of a Medical Assisting (MA) program are required.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care, including vital sign measurements, personal hygiene assistance, and mobility support
  • Assist with medical procedures, such as preparing patients for exams and surgeries
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment by maintaining confidentiality and adhering to hospital policies
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED certificate
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or Medical Assisting (MA) program completion
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Minimum six months nursing assistant or MA experience preferred
