About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Engine Mechanic to join our team at BNSF Railway. As a key member of our Mechanical Department, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing diesel engines for optimal performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and repair diesel engines and mechanical components of locomotives
  • Test and restore brake systems, safety appliances, and other critical systems
  • Install, disassemble, assemble, repair, or replace locomotive diesel engine components
  • Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance on tools and equipment
  • Diagnose malfunctions in diesel engines, air equipment, and trucks
Requirements
  • Ability to work in a safety-sensitive environment with diverse and extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work at various heights above the ground, including working on top of a locomotive
  • Ability to bend, walk, stand, and sit occasionally with breaks
  • Ability to follow safety policies and procedures, wear personal protective equipment
