Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Systems Reliability Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems, encompassing both fixed and rotating equipment such as engines, pumps, generators, compressors, piping, valves, and vessels. Your expertise will be vital in identifying and implementing enhancements related to reliability, integrity, economic efficiency, carbon reduction, and safety for these systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Critical Machinery Troubleshooting: Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to address high-priority equipment outages, focusing on restoring functionality while implementing long-term solutions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain comprehensive documentation of machinery history, emphasizing root cause analysis and repair scopes. Ensure machinery files and prioritized lists are current and complete.
  • Design Review: Evaluate machinery history for assigned areas to identify reliability improvement opportunities. Assess new machinery installations to ensure compliance with corporate specifications and standards.
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis: Assist in formal investigations of equipment failures, including seal failures in pumps and maintenance rework.
  • Quality Assurance: Support construction and maintenance departments by developing and reviewing machinery repair and preventive maintenance checklists and procedures. Ensure safety standards are met during commissioning of new or repaired equipment.
  • Machinery Protection: Provide technical guidance to ensure key mechanical equipment is safeguarded by reliable protection systems, including determining appropriate alarm and control limits.
  • Condition Monitoring and Surveillance: Conduct routine diagnostics and condition monitoring of various machinery, performing visual inspections and evaluating performance.
  • Offsite Shop Repairs: Oversee and ensure quality in offsite shop repairs.
  • Turnaround and Capital Project Support: Offer assistance during turnaround and capital projects as needed.
  • Procedure Development: Create or revise preventive maintenance schedules, job guidelines, and procedures for equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a vibration analyst (Level 1 or higher) from an accredited organization.
  • Proficient in machinery analysis software and maintenance planning tools.
  • Strong interest in machinery analysis with a focus on identifying reliability threats and implementing improvements.
  • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • In-depth knowledge of rotating equipment, including turbines, compressors, pumps, and motors.
  • Experience in machinery condition monitoring and protection.
  • Proficient in using databases and electronic data management, as well as Microsoft Excel and Word.
