Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Shop Mechanic to join our team at Quality Carriers West Coast. As a Shop Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing tractors and trailers, ensuring they meet Federal FHWA standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers, performing annual and systematic inspections as required.
  • Yard Operations: Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and shop as needed.
  • Parts Procurement: Order and receive parts and supplies as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all established safety and environmental policies and standards, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Work Environment: Clean, organize, and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
  • Additional Duties: Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in the repair and service of trailers and medium-duty trucks.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, principles, and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  • Special Requirements: Up to 3 years as a fleet mechanic preferred. DOT HM-183 training or experience a plus. ASE certification is not required but recommended.
