Position Overview:
This role is pivotal in overseeing and reconciling all financial accounts related to plant assets, long-term liabilities, and payroll obligations.

Key Responsibilities:
While the following duties are essential, they do not encompass all responsibilities associated with this position. The absence of specific tasks does not exclude them from the role if they are similar or essential to the position.
  • Manage the accounting for fixed assets in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ensure proper documentation for capital projects.
  • Calculate annual depreciation and conduct monthly reconciliations. Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Assets database.
  • Review and authorize fixed asset and long-term debt requisitions.
  • Monitor prepaid deposits for capital initiatives and ongoing construction projects.
  • Prepare a roll-forward schedule for fixed assets.
  • Conduct account reconciliations and analyses, focusing on the capitalization and depreciation of buildings, land, capital improvements, equipment, and technology.
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance the management of purchasing, utilization, and disposal of fixed assets.
  • Act as a liaison with Facilities and Technology Directors, as well as the Budget Director, to ensure accurate coding of capital expenditures and forecasting.
  • Reconcile accounts related to capital leases.
  • Prepare necessary audit schedules for assigned accounts.
  • Maintain a roll-forward schedule of long-term debt trustee activities, including principal and interest payments, while investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Reconcile bank statements and record interest accrued.
  • Post interest income from Deposits Held by Trustee.
  • Record quarterly income and expenses related to Interest Rate Swaps.
  • Reconcile all bond-related accounts, including Deferred Bond Issuance Costs, Bonds Payable, Premiums/Discounts, and Deposits Held with Trustees.
  • Reconcile all payroll-related liability accounts, including investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Prepare accrual entries and detailed month-end analyses to provide insights into financial fluctuations and alert management to any identified issues.
  • Compile annual external reports for long-term debt and fixed assets.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution is required.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must meet all general health requirements as per company policies.
