Job Overview

The Retail Sales Associate at Welders Supply & Gases is a key member of our sales team, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support to our customers. This role involves assisting customers with purchasing and ordering welding equipment, hard goods, and industrial gases, as well as receiving and processing incoming stock, picking and packing, and shipping outgoing orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist customers in-store and by phone to purchase and order products.
  • Perform customer service activities such as answering questions, resolving customer challenges, and tracing order statuses or product shipments.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate products, equipment, and/or programs to customers based on need.
  • Promote 'add-on' sales of gases and high-margin hard goods accessories.
  • Keep the retail store stocked with merchandise and maintain product pricing labels.
  • Handle cash and charge account transactions.
  • Process cylinder returns, exchanges, and purchases.
  • Unload/load gas cylinders to maintain stock on the cylinder dock.
  • Receive and put away stock and part orders, as needed.
  • Load trucks and trailers with outgoing products.
  • Maintain inventory storage locations and product identification labels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the retail store, the sales counter, and warehouse work areas.
  • Maintain customer records and files, including keying orders, accurate account setup information, and appropriate pricing discount information.
  • Work closely with and provide sales support to the Inside Sales team.
Requirements
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move compressed gas and liquid cylinders; lift 50-75 pounds and maneuver 100+ pound cylinders (rolling, using a cart, etc.).
  • Performing work during prolonged periods of standing (up to eight hours) is necessary.
