Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as a Food Safety Coordinator. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our agricultural practices meet stringent food safety standards. The Food Safety Coordinator will oversee the implementation and maintenance of food safety protocols across our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine food safety protocols, including Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
- Prepare for and manage both internal and external audits, including organic certification processes.
- Maintain comprehensive records of food safety practices, inspections, training sessions, and compliance documentation.
- Conduct training for farm personnel on food safety standards, hygiene practices, and proper equipment usage.
- Perform regular inspections of fields, equipment, and facilities to ensure adherence to established protocols.
- Investigate food safety incidents and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with management and various departments to integrate food safety practices into daily operations.
- Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes to enhance food safety measures.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Positive attitude that aligns with the values of Wish Farms.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Agriculture, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred certifications in food safety, such as HACCP or ServSafe.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in food safety or quality assurance, ideally within an agricultural setting.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and principles, with a preference for familiarity with strawberry farming practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, along with effective communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software applications.
- Bilingual capabilities are advantageous.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks related to inspections.
