Job Title: Senior Traffic Engineering Project Manager

Michael Baker International is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead our Traffic Engineering team in delivering high-quality projects to our clients in the New York and New Jersey area.

Job Summary:

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining trusted adviser relationships with local, statewide, and regional clients. They will work closely with our 30-person local Traffic Engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Department and other multi-discipline staff in the pursuit and delivery of projects for clients such as the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), New York Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT), and other regional clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain trusted adviser relationships with clients
  • Lead and participate in strategic positioning for highway, arterial, and local roadway, and multi-discipline transportation infrastructure project opportunities
  • Coordinate staff workload with other transportation infrastructure departments within Michael Baker International
  • Lead, assign, and review work of the project delivery team and provide technical guidance and oversight for the design of transportation projects
  • Check work progress and identify changes of scope and additional services
  • Staff mentorship and development is a responsibility, as well as the development and overseeing of budgets and schedules
  • Be a visible and active member of the New York and New Jersey transportation community through professional organization involvement, client engagement, and attending public meetings
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 15 years of traffic and/or roadway design experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey and/or New York required, and PTOE certification highly preferred
  • NJDOT, NYSDOT, and/or other regional client experience is a must
  • Demonstrated supervisor and mentoring skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentation skills, public speaking ability, and problem-solving skills are required
  • Strong track record of overseeing successful project delivery
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and conduct multi-tasking efforts
  • Have the drive to be a leader in the company and in the professional community
  • Possess strong engineering judgment with a strive for quality and financial excellence

Michael Baker International offers a hybrid/flexible working arrangement with offices in New York City, Newark, NJ, and Hamilton, NJ. We provide a competitive salary range of $143,831 to $224,647, depending on qualifications and experience.
