Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Elementary Education Teacher to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching elementary school students academic, social, and motor skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Prepare course objectives and outlines for the course of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of the state and school.
  • Instructional Strategies: Demonstrate the ability to decide on the best use of methods and materials to help students acquire necessary skills, taking into account the different needs and abilities of individual students.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Prepare, administer, correct tests, and record results.
  • Communication: Counsel pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise, and discuss pupils' academic achievements and behavioral concerns with parents.
  • Record Keeping: Keep attendance and grade records as required by the school.
  • Professional Development: Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university.
  • Experience: Previous public school teaching experience is required.
  • Certifications: Alabama Class B Certificate with appropriate endorsement.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
