This is a challenging opportunity to join the State of Kansas as a Technology Support Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to employees and external users, troubleshooting and resolving IT-related issues, and maintaining software licenses and inventory.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support to employees and external users via phone, email, and in-person
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related issues, including hardware and software problems
- Maintain software licenses and inventory, ensuring compliance with agency policies and procedures
- Perform backups and data recovery tasks as needed
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent and three months of experience installing software on microcomputer systems and using word processing, database, or spreadsheet applications
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform light physical exertion
- Knowledge of basic computer operations, including hardware and software troubleshooting
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external users, developers, vendors, and technical/administrative supervisors
- Two years of hands-on computer equipment and/or computer user support experience
- Knowledge of industry-standard software packages, utility programs, and service aids
- Ability to install and maintain vendor-supplied software packages
- Ability to read and comprehend technical information relating to proprietary software and computer or telecommunications hardware systems
