Role Overview:
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
• Overseeing food service operations to ensure adherence to nutritional standards and safety protocols.
• Evaluating dietary needs, restrictions, and health plans to create and implement tailored dietary-care strategies and provide nutritional guidance.
• Offering expert advice to patients and staff regarding nutritional guidelines, dietary plans, modifications, and food preparation techniques.
• Collaborating with healthcare professionals to assess the nutritional requirements and dietary limitations of patients.
• Documenting dietary histories, assessments, and progress notes accurately.
This job description is intended to outline the general duties and responsibilities of the role. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, candidates should possess the following:
• Registration as a dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics is preferred but not mandatory.
• In-depth knowledge of modern dietetics principles, techniques, and terminology acquired through relevant experience.
• Familiarity with contemporary methods, materials, and equipment utilized in large-scale food service, along with the ability to manage resources effectively.
• Competence in menu planning and supervising staff in both modified and standard diet preparation and service.
• Capability to conduct training programs related to food service and nutrition.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage with the treatment team, medical and administrative personnel, and patients.
Accountability:
While not the ultimate decision-maker, the incumbent is expected to exercise discretion in resolving dietary issues and consulting with medical and dietary supervisors regarding any atypical dietary challenges. Supervisors will periodically review work to ensure objectives are met.
Collaboration:
This role involves interaction with patients, healthcare providers, clinical staff, department heads, students, vendors, and community representatives.
