Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Helpdesk Technician to join our team at the University of Utah. As a key member of the Eccles IT Group, you will provide technical support and assistance to faculty, staff, and students across the campus.

Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site technical support for classroom AV equipment, including troubleshooting and resolving issues in real-time.
  • Offer technical assistance for the Executive MBA program and class sessions, including intermittent Saturdays.
  • Utilize our ITSM ticketing system to manage and respond to incoming requests for support, prioritize and escalate tickets, document resolution steps, and record inventory.
  • Provide computer support by troubleshooting and correcting problems on all end-user computing equipment issued by the school.
  • Install and upgrade computer hardware and software applications, ensuring compliance with license restrictions and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Stay current with new computer technology and understand how these relate to ongoing problems and strategic planning.
  • Assist with inventory, supply management, and equipment checkout, as well as retrieving packages from the mailroom.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in a computer-related field and two years of experience or equivalency required.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, human relations, and effective communication skills are essential.
  • Preferences include audio-visual experience, knowledge of University of Utah systems, policies, and procedures, and direct customer service experience with an emphasis on phone/remote support.
