Job SummaryUnder general supervision, this position will perform a wide range of custodial and maintenance duties to provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment at our VPC port facility in Philadelphia, PA.
Responsibilities- Perform trash removal duties in accordance with established procedures and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Recycle cardboard, wood, and steel, and ensure the VPC port is free of debris.
- Provide custodial assistance, including snow removal and light maintenance issues such as clogged toilets and broken broom handles.
- Report any mechanical, manual, and/or preventative issues to management in a timely manner.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed and maintain bathroom, break area, and basic facilities cleanliness.
- Inventory and equipment maintenance, including operating and maintaining various cleaning equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with Facilities Maintenance Manager and team members on all maintenance or supply issues.
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
- 1 year of custodial experience preferred.
- Physical requirements include driving, lifting up to 40 lbs, carrying up to 40 lbs, pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, kneeling, squatting/crouching, and standing.
This position works in a plant manufacturing/warehouse setting and requires the ability to operate buffer machines, color machines, and hand-held scanners, as well as precisely perform sanding, brushing touch-ups, and taping. Exposure to paint, paint thinner, and sanding dust is also expected.
