Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Detention Officer to join our team at Albany-Dougherty County, Georgia. As a Detention Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of inmates and staff within the jail facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide complete security throughout the jail facility and perform duties in the assigned area of responsibility by enforcing local, state, and federal laws.
  • Ensure the safety and security of inmates and staff by conducting regular checks and monitoring activities within the facility.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents in a timely and professional manner.
  • Enforce rules and regulations within the facility to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and departments to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Be a High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Be a Certified Jailer or eligible for Jailer Certification status in accordance with Georgia State Standards.
  • Be able to pass a credibility assessment test and medical examination.
  • Provide Compass/Asset scores from Technical College or University.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
  • Submit copies of the following documents to the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office/Jail at time of application: birth certificate, social security card, high school diploma or equivalent, valid Georgia driver's license, and DD 214 Military Discharge (if applicable).
Working Conditions

The Detention Officer will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to stress and pressure. The officer will be required to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The officer will also be required to wear a uniform and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
