Position Overview:
The University of Washington Medical Center - Montlake is seeking a dedicated FULL-TIME ANESTHESIOLOGY TECHNICIAN to join our esteemed Anesthesiology department. This role is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of patient care during surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist operating room physicians in preparing patients for surgical interventions.
- Monitor and assess patient vital signs, collecting data from various medical devices.
- Support physicians in the operation and upkeep of anesthesia equipment.
- Observe and care for patients in the post-operative phase.
- Engage with diverse patient demographics, including newborns, infants, children, and adults.
- Perform essential tasks that contribute to the well-being of patients undergoing anesthesia.
Essential Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a robust background in patient care, ideally with experience as an EMT or Paramedic. Additionally, the following qualifications are required:
- Associate of Arts Degree in Biomedical Electronics, or
- Two years of post-secondary education/training in sciences coupled with one year of relevant work experience, or
- Two years of experience as an Anesthesiology Technician I, Paramedic, Laboratory Technician, or a related field.
Additional Duties:
Responsibilities also include:
- Maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting anesthesia-related equipment.
- Obtaining blood samples and delivering critical blood parameters to medical staff as directed (requires MA-Phlebotomy certification from the State of Washington within the first three months of employment).
- Performing low-level and high-level disinfection of all anesthesia equipment.
- Carrying out other related duties as required to support Anesthesia Services.
