Key Responsibilities
  • Control System Design: Establish reliable and sturdy control system designs and platforms for common functions, ensuring seamless integration with manufacturing processes.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with manufacturing and process engineering teams to outline system functional requirements, ensuring effective communication and project execution.
  • Electrical and Mechanical Selection: Select electrical, mechanical, thermal, and pneumatic control elements, such as motors, drives, actuators, sensors, motion control elements, etc., as per specified functional requirements.
  • Electrical Schematic Design: Produce and revise electrical schematic drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Control Systems Software Development: Design and develop control systems software, including PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, fine-tuning Motion Controllers, user interfaces, and servo drives.
  • System Testing and Verification: Commence, debug, and verify newly constructed or updated automated machinery and production lines, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Project Management: Lead project management efforts for new equipment development and enhancements to existing setups, ensuring timely completion and budget adherence.
  • Technical Support: Provide support and troubleshooting for current production machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
  • Software Development and Debugging: Download and debug various controller software programs, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • System Optimization: Optimize motion systems, master/following systems, and temperature control systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Standardization and Documentation: Devising strategies and schedules to standardize common control system functions, structure, and components, and creating strategies for standardizing control system software.
  • PLC and HMI Software Revision: Revising existing PLC and HMI software to facilitate equipment upgrades, ensuring seamless integration with manufacturing processes.
Requirements
  • Experience: Five years of hands-on experience as a controls engineer involved in automated processes, equipment, and system integration within a manufacturing environment.
  • Operational Familiarity: Operational familiarity with servo motors, stepper motors, motion controllers, temperature controllers, pneumatic controls, control relays, sensors, operator interfaces, etc.
  • Programming Skills: Experience in programming Motion Controllers, Operator Interface programming (favoring Ignition and/or Red Lion), and PLC programming (favoring IEC languages).
  • Software Development: Experience with software development environments and knowledge of engineering documentation, including setup and adjustment procedures, calibration, software documentation, operational instructions, and maintenance guidelines.
  • Machine Safety and Control Panel Design: Thorough knowledge of industrial control panel design and assembly (UL508A), machine safety applications, electrical power distribution, and control panel design.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Proficient in written and verbal technical communication, including report generation and group presentations, and capable of standing/sitting for a minimum of 90 consecutive minutes without experiencing sensory deprivation or limb paralysis.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field.
