Director of Franchise Accounting

Job Summary:

As a key member of the Global Finance team, the Director of Franchise Accounting will lead and provide guidance to the Franchise Accounting Department. This role will work closely with full franchise owners, providing system knowledge, accounting guidance, and financial reporting tools to support the full franchise program. The successful candidate will oversee financial journal entries and GL account reconciliations for the full franchise program within various North America business units.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage store accounting support for all North America full franchises, including providing customer service directly to franchise owners and their teams.
  • Manage full franchise accounting for each business unit, including billing stores, generating journal entries, and completing account reconciliations.
  • Provide system training for the full franchise program to new Circle K full franchisee owners and store managers.
  • Oversee accounting for Northern Tier Commissaries and Supply Warehouse.
  • Oversee accounting for Northern Tier fuel alliance programs.
  • Oversee the Northern Tier scrip program.
  • Test upgrades and new functionality for systems supporting the full franchise program and NTBU Commissaries.
  • Manage the annual budgeting process for the franchise accounting department and for Northern Tier franchise operations.
  • Support the annual renewal of Franchise Disclosure Documents for Holiday franchises and support the annual audit of TMC Franchise Corporation.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements, policies, and regulations by enforcing adherence to corporate systems, policies, and governmental regulations, advising management on needed actions.
  • Support, develop, and guide the franchise accounting team to financial and professional success. Provide leadership to raise both performance and morale. Responsible for staff by recruiting, selecting, and orienting employees as well as training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Motivate and set the tone for a positive work environment within the franchise accounting team, exhibiting behavior in accordance with the Light of Day policy.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Requirements:

A Master's degree in Accounting/Finance is preferred, or a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance with 7 years of Accounting/Finance-related experience. Other combinations of job-related experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. Five years of experience or more, including a minimum of three years of management responsibility, is preferred. Experience with MS Access, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word is preferred. Experience with PDI Retail Suite is also preferred.

This role requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and use of a keyboard and computer. Occasional bending, reaching, and lifting/moving up to 35 pounds may be required. Work is subject to tight deadlines and interruptions can be stressful. Travel to store locations as needed to support new store openings is required, with current travel requirements at 10% - 15% (five to seven weeks per year). The travel requirement is expected to increase as the full franchise program expands.
