Position: Building Maintenance Technician

As a Building Maintenance Technician at Dallas County, you will be essential in ensuring the functionality and safety of various building systems across multiple facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the maintenance of HVAC systems and building automation, including heating, cooling, plumbing, minor electrical work, and lighting fixtures.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to the Facility Manager as needed.
  • Documenting and managing logs of equipment performance, building automation, and maintenance activities.
  • Training staff on operational procedures and responsibilities.
  • Reviewing equipment and tool reports to ensure proper functioning.
  • Collaborating with the Assistant Facility Manager, plumbers, electricians, and other staff as necessary.
  • Conducting sampling and testing of boilers and cooling towers, along with preparing detailed reports.
  • Taking the lead on specific assignments when required.
  • Carrying out additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited high school or GED program.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience, as per the Facilities hiring/promotion criteria.

Additional Notes:

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of formal training, or a combination of both.

Essential Skills and Requirements:

Applicants must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, maintain a satisfactory driving record, and successfully pass a security clearance check. The role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts and varying days.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Ability to climb ladders and lift weights exceeding 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Capability to endure prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, stretching, lifting, and climbing.
  • Must be prepared to work in diverse conditions and environments.
  • Willingness to adapt to changes in shift schedules and work locations.
