Job Title: Montessori Activity Assistant

Bellevue Montessori School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Montessori Activity Assistant. This is a part-time position that requires a commitment to working with children aged 18 months to 12 years old.

Job Summary:

The Montessori Activity Assistant will work closely with our teachers to create a nurturing environment that fosters the comprehensive development of all students. This includes interacting positively, confidently, and respectfully with all children, families, and staff members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cleaning and Rotating of Activities: Ensure that all activities, books, and art supplies are clean and rotated regularly to maintain a stimulating and engaging environment for the children.
  • Assisting with Drop-offs: Assist with the drop-off process, ensuring that children are safely and efficiently transitioned from their parents to the classroom.
  • Health and Safety Procedures: Familiarize yourself with and follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the children.
  • Preparing and Providing Snacks: Prepare and provide healthy snacks for the children, taking into account any dietary restrictions or allergies.
  • Offering Assistance to Children: Offer assistance to children only when necessary, in accordance with the Montessori method, to encourage independence and self-reliance.
  • Engaging with Children: Engage in conversation with children to increase their opportunities for language development and socialization.
  • Positive Discipline Techniques: Use positive discipline techniques to help students develop self-discipline and conflict resolution skills.
  • Classroom Maintenance: Ensure that the classroom is left clean and ready for the morning, including the use of the three-step process to clean and sanitize tables and chairs.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Assist in other areas, such as covering breaks, filling in at the front desk if necessary, and assisting in other classrooms.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalency, or at least 18 years of age. Comparable work experience with children, such as nannying or babysitting. Experience working with Google Drive and other platforms.
  • Physical Demands: Able to lift up to 25lbs. Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Personal Qualities: Passionate about working with children. Patient, calm, kind, and understanding. Team player. Strong communication skills. Proactive and takes initiative. Strong attendance, punctuality, and flexibility.
  • Additional Requirements: Able to work in the US. Complete the DCYF requirements, including a Portable Background Check, CPR/First Aid, proof of TB/Measles, Covid-19 vaccinations, Food Handler's permit, Borne Blood Pathogens, and complete the initial 30-hour basic child course. Mandarin speaker (bonus).
