Classroom Assistants are scheduled to work Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30 p.m. as 10-month employees for the academic year. Work schedule and hours may vary while working within childcare during select school closures and breaks. The primary responsibilities of this position include preparing the classroom, overviewing students, and supporting the lead teacher.

Examples of Daily Tasks Include:

  • Prepare supplies such as pencils, paper, and glue bottles for student use.
  • Organize and care for Montessori materials.
  • Overview the classroom and maintain a peaceful work environment.
  • Facilitate daily schedule through advanced planning for transitions and set-up.
  • Clean and close classroom while supervising students in after-school care.

Employees are eligible to participate in the 401(k) retirement plan following one year and a minimum of 1,000 hours of employment; for each dollar an employee contributes, Eton School will provide a matching contribution of up to 8% of an employee's eligible compensation. Health, vision, and dental plans are available to employees working 24 hours or more per week, beginning on the first after one full month of employment. Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 18 years old
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in childcare or early childhood education setting
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • ECE Initial Certificate or equivalent required (can be completed while working)
  • Desirable traits include a warm disposition, confidence and kindness when working with children, effective communication, professionalism, and taking initiative in handling work responsibilities.
  • Health and safety trainings can be completed upon hire, costs reimbursed by the school:
    • Pediatric, Child, and Adult CPR/AED and First Aid training
    • Bloodborne Pathogens training
    • Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect
    • Medication Management
    • Student Boundaries training
    • WA State Food Worker Card
    • 30 STARS hours of Child Care Basics or equivalent
    • Must have results of a one-step Mantoux TB skin test prior to starting work or provide written proof of a negative test result within the past twelve months. Positive results require documentation of treatment or a negative chest x-ray.
  • Must show proof of MMR vaccination, proof of immunity through antibody titer, a health care provider's attestation of infection sufficient to provide immunity, or documentation of medical/religious exemption.
  • Must complete a Portable Background Check through DCYF and submit to fingerprinting as required.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. overhead and to move freely while supervising and engaging in indoor and outdoor activities with students.
