Job Summary
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly skilled Director of Operations to lead all operational functions and drive a culture of continuous improvement in support of on-time deliveries to our customers and total productivity.
About the Role
The Director of Operations will be responsible for providing direction and site leadership to the following functions: manufacturing, procurement, planning, facilities, logistics, and EH&S. This role will also involve developing and implementing best-in-class operational strategies, leading production schedules for on-time delivery, and supervising and leading production teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead all aspects of production processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Develop and implement best-in-class operational strategies.
• Lead production schedules for on-time delivery.
• Supervise and lead production teams.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide training.
• Foster a positive and safe work environment.
• Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.
• Implement quality control procedures and conduct inspections.
• Address quality issues promptly in collaboration with the Quality team.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Conduct safety audits and training.
• Develop and enforce safety policies.
• Prepare and manage the plant's budget.
• Balance expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure efficient use of resources.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles.
• Stay updated with industry trends.
• Maintain open communication with senior management and departments.
• Prepare and present performance reports.
• Address operational issues promptly.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related field; Master's degree is a plus.
• A proven experience of 10 years in a manufacturing environment.
• 5 years plus of record expertise of leading manufacturing operations sites.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Excellent leadership, team management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with production management software.
• Business & Financial Competence by understanding & applying knowledge of the business and insights from financial data to determine best action and advance the organization's goals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and quality standards.
