Position Summary: The Principal Scientist will play a critical role in overseeing and enhancing AcuraStem's cutting-edge platform technology, which employs human iPSC-derived cell types to accurately model neurodegenerative diseases. This role is integral to the discovery and validation of therapeutic targets, lead selection, and biomarker assessment. We are looking for candidates with extensive expertise in iPSC models for neurodegenerative diseases, high-content imaging, and assay development.
Key Responsibilities:- Innovate and implement comprehensive human platforms to facilitate drug discovery and early-stage development.
- Design and lead research strategies to achieve program goals, ensuring effective project management and risk mitigation.
- Utilize analytical methodologies, including experimental design and statistical process control, to troubleshoot assay performance. Conduct thorough statistical evaluations and devise solutions to enhance assay reliability.
- Communicate findings to both internal stakeholders and external partners, including presentations to leadership, collaborators, and at scientific conferences.
- Contribute to the drafting and review of documentation for regulatory submissions, including study reports and investigational brochures.
- Engage in writing grant proposals and progress reports as necessary.
- Collaborate across departments, serving as a scientific expert.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring team members and fostering their professional development.
- Ph.D. in a relevant field with specialization in various areas of neuroscience, including ALS, FTD, Tauopathies, or oligonucleotide therapies.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience is essential for this position.
- Extensive experience with iPSC differentiation protocols for neurons, neurospheres, and organoids; familiarity with glial cells and muscle cells is advantageous.
- In-depth understanding of neurodegenerative disease models, particularly those involving TDP-43 proteinopathies.
- Proficiency in high-content imaging technologies.
- Proven ability to manage project timelines and resources effectively.
- Experience in a collaborative, matrixed environment; prior experience in small companies or startups is preferred.
- High motivation and a demonstrated track record of success.
- Exceptional teamwork, communication skills, and time management abilities.
This is a full-time, regular on-site position.
Compensation:At AcuraStem, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. The salary range for this role is $138,000 – $195,000, with compensation determined by various factors including qualifications, skills, and experience.
