Position Overview

The role involves supporting the safe, efficient, and cost-effective generation of electrical energy through various mechanical tasks at power generation facilities. The specific maintenance responsibilities may differ across locations and are not exhaustively listed below, but are integral to this position. Alongside mechanical duties, there will be varying levels of additional maintenance and operational tasks as dictated by facility needs.

It is important to note that not all duties may be included in this description, nor do the examples provided encompass every task associated with this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on all equipment and facilities at power generation sites.
  • Perform construction tasks as required to meet plant operational needs.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and provide insights for follow-up work and program enhancements.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance technologies to optimize plant upkeep.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and troubleshoot systems to enhance maintenance efforts.
  • Operate lifting equipment competently while adhering to safe rigging practices.
  • Use hand and power tools responsibly and effectively.
  • Employ precision measuring, portable heating, cutting, and welding tools as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Safely manage and dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with regulations.
  • May be required to perform maintenance on locomotives and related railroad equipment.
  • Efficiently utilize computer systems for work management, accessing work orders, inputting historical data, reporting time, and ordering parts.
  • Provide training to other facility personnel on identified tasks.
  • Assume a leadership role, including assigning, overseeing, and taking responsibility for the work of other classifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Work safely and efficiently while maintaining effective relationships with colleagues, customers, and the public. Must be able to understand and execute oral and written instructions and accurately complete necessary paperwork. Overtime may be required.
Qualifications for Success

This position may require shift work, non-continuous multi-shift schedules, and overtime. Specific respirator certification levels will be determined based on job assignments.

Education Requirements

Completion of a relevant Apprenticeship program or equivalent experience is required.

Certifications and Testing

Must hold a valid Arizona driver's license. Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit testing, and training are necessary. Candidates must pass a Physical Agility Test and the SRP Plant Mechanic Job Knowledge Test. For a detailed list of required training certifications, please consult the departmental manager.

Hybrid Work Environment

SRP currently offers a hybrid work model, allowing employees whose roles can be performed remotely to telework up to three days per week. While teleworking is an option, all employees must reside and work in Arizona.
