Position Overview

The role involves supporting the safe, efficient, and cost-effective generation of electrical energy through various mechanical tasks within power generation facilities. The specific maintenance responsibilities may differ across locations and are not exhaustively listed below, but are integral to this position. Alongside mechanical tasks, there will be varying levels of additional maintenance and operational duties based on facility requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on all facilities and equipment at power generation sites.
  • Perform construction tasks as needed to meet plant requirements.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and provide insights for follow-up work and program enhancements.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance technologies to improve plant upkeep.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and troubleshoot systems to optimize maintenance efforts.
  • Operate lifting equipment competently and apply safe rigging practices.
  • Use hand and power tools responsibly and effectively.
  • Employ precision measuring, portable heating, cutting, and welding tools as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Safely manage and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in compliance with regulations.
  • May be required to perform maintenance on locomotives and related railroad equipment.
  • Efficiently utilize computer systems for work management, accessing work orders, inputting historical data, reporting time, and ordering parts.
  • Provide training to other facility personnel in designated tasks.
  • Assume a leadership role, including assigning, overseeing, and directing the work of other classifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain safe and efficient work practices while fostering effective relationships with colleagues, customers, and the public. Must be able to comprehend and execute oral and written instructions and accurately complete necessary paperwork. Overtime may be required.
Qualifications for Success

This position may require shift work, non-continuous multi-shift schedules, and overtime. Specific respirator certification levels will be determined based on job assignment.

Education Requirements

Completion of a relevant Apprenticeship program or equivalent experience is required.

Certifications and Testing

Must hold a valid Arizona driver's license. Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit testing, and training are necessary. Physical Agility Test and SRP Plant Mechanic Job Knowledge Test are required. For a detailed list of training certifications, please consult the departmental manager.

Hybrid Work Environment

SRP currently offers a hybrid work model, allowing employees whose roles can be performed remotely, and who possess the necessary technical capabilities, to telework up to three days per week. While teleworking is an option, all employees must reside and work in Arizona. We are implementing measures to safeguard the health and well-being of all team members by adhering to various health and safety protocols to mitigate the risk of COVID-19.
