Patient Care Technician @ Providence Service

12 Hour Shifts Available

As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care and departmental activities under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

  • Assist under the supervision of the RN to deliver care and services to patients and their families, following the RN's directives for task delegation and adhering to emergency protocols.
  • Transport patients as instructed.
  • Document all daily activities and care provided to patients accurately and legibly, including any unusual or complex issues and changes in patient conditions.
  • Provide patient care as directed by the team RN, which may include tasks such as making and changing beds, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitoring vital signs, and providing assistance with personal hygiene.
  • Conduct regular patient rounds as delegated by the RN.
  • Respond promptly to unit telephones and patient call systems.
  • Act quickly and appropriately to unit and patient alarms.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and team members to prioritize and organize patient admissions and care delivery.
  • Maintain supply levels, restocking as necessary, and work with management to optimize unit routines for effective supply management.
  • Ensure patient rooms are organized and clean, and equipment is maintained as directed.
  • Participate in educational activities and quality improvement programs relevant to patient care.
  • Perform assigned technical skills competently, including monitoring and testing procedures.
  • Fulfill the role of Patient Safety Attendant as needed, ensuring patient safety and communicating changes in patient conditions to the RN or charge RN in a timely manner.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned to enhance care delivery and unit operations.

Qualifications Required:

  • Washington Nursing Assistant Certification License upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six months of experience in acute care settings.
  • One year of experience in skilled nursing.
  • Experience may be waived for applicants with demonstrated customer service experience in healthcare or related fields, or for students currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
