Responsibilities
The role includes the following duties:
- Monitor and redirect patients requiring constant supervision, including those in non-violent restraints.
- Deliver laboratory specimens and supplies to various departments as instructed, or retrieve necessary items as needed.
- Ensure a safe working environment by monitoring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by staff and visitors.
- Conduct audits for hand hygiene and other safety protocols.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and support in turning and transferring patients.
- Measure and document vital signs accurately.
- Restock supply cabinets in patient rooms and patient care technician carts.
- Order meals for patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist in safeguarding patient belongings during admission and transfers within the unit.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is required. Completion of a Nursing Assistant Certified (NA-C) training course is necessary, with clinical requirements potentially fulfilled during the initial week in the NA-R role. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with basic computer proficiency. Candidates must be capable of lifting, moving, or assisting patients using appropriate body mechanics, with the ability to occasionally lift or push up to 50 lbs and pull up to 100 lbs.
