Job Summary

This is an adjunct faculty position for a part-time history instructor at Ivy Tech Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching history courses and contributing to the academic success of students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction: Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives, making optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Course Development: Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials, as well as maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Student Engagement: Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, demonstrating the ability to develop and implement active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Academic Support: Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, providing necessary interventions, including communication with students, tutoring, and referrals to appropriate college resources.
  • Professionalism: Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
  • Safety and Emergency Procedures: Ensure knowledge of and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Must have a strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
  • Discipline Standard: A qualified faculty member in history meets the discipline standard through one of two routes: possessing an earned master's or higher degree in history or possessing an earned master's or higher degree in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in history.
  • Retention and Student Success: Provide academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff, promoting and assisting in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time, adjunct faculty position. The successful candidate will be expected to work in a fast-paced academic environment, interacting with students, faculty, and staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
