Acute Care Respiratory Therapist

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) plays a crucial role in delivering a comprehensive range of respiratory therapy interventions and techniques. This position involves monitoring life support systems, conducting arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, and executing designated cardiopulmonary diagnostic assessments as directed by the attending physician.
Compensation and BenefitsWe offer a competitive compensation package that includes:
- A new hire bonus of $13,000 for evening/night shifts and $8,000 for day shifts for full-time and part-time positions.
- An internal colleague transition bonus of $5,000 for evening/night shifts.
- Enhanced shift differentials.
- Up to $3,000 per year in tuition loan repayment, with a maximum of $9,000 available.
The weekend rotation for day shifts occurs every 6th weekend, while night shifts rotate every 5th weekend.
Team DynamicsOur approach emphasizes strong teamwork, utilizing patient-centered and therapist-driven protocols. The role is situated within a mid-sized healthcare facility that provides extensive clinical opportunities in respiratory therapy, including:
- Ventilator and non-invasive ventilation management.
- Administration of pulmonary medications.
- Arterial blood gas draws and analysis.
- Participation in Code Blue and Rapid Response Teams.
- Application of all current techniques for secretion mobilization and oxygen therapy.
We offer pathways for advancement from CRT to RRT and opportunities for RT students to progress to RRT.
QualificationsMinimum Education:
Registered as a Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care and licensed by the State Health Professional Bureau to perform respiratory therapy duties.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution.
Required Certifications:
ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, RRT.
The Registered Respiratory Therapist is accountable for:
- Performing assigned tasks with a positive attitude that aligns with the hospital's mission.
- Maintaining confidentiality regarding all patient-related information.
- Engaging in self-improvement through continuing education and in-service training.
- Executing all respiratory care therapeutic procedures as outlined in the department's scope of services.
- Administering emergency respiratory care procedures effectively.
- Conducting critical care procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Performing 12-lead electrocardiograms accurately.
- Actively participating in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
- Assisting in the orientation of new staff members.
- Adapting positively to changes and fulfilling additional tasks as assigned.
- Upholding excellent communication with colleagues and maintaining strong public relations with patients and their families.
- Documenting patient treatment data accurately in departmental records.
- Contributing to the education and professional growth of departmental staff.
