We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Operative Preparation: Assist in preparing the operating room for each procedure, including setting up equipment and supplies, and ensuring a sterile and safe environment.
- Assisting Surgeons: Provide assistance to surgeons during procedures, including passing instruments, suturing, and retracting.
- Equipment Management: Operate and maintain various types of equipment used in the operating room, including tables, cameras, and microscopes.
- Patient Care: Provide basic patient care, including positioning, transporting, and monitoring patients.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgeons, to ensure seamless patient care.
- Education: Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer proficiency, and knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques.
This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent exposure to blood and body fluids. The Surgical Technologist must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull with 30 pounds of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person present.
