Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the proper handling of instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, adhering to aseptic techniques and protocols.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe surgical procedures, anticipating and responding to the needs of the surgeons and anesthesiologists.
  • Participate in the maintenance of the operating room environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surfaces, and ensuring the proper storage of supplies.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in various surgical specialties, including orthopedics, general surgery, and neurosurgery.
  • Provide education and training to new staff members, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, with expertise in multiple surgical specialties.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with the ability to obtain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull with 30 pounds of force, and perform other physical demands of the job.
